The Great Ski Race 2027
The Great Ski Race 2027 is a nordic ski event at the Tahoe Cross Country Center in Tahoe City, California, held on March 7, 2027. The event offers two course options that both start and finish at the nordic center.
- 26 km nordic ski loop around Mt. Watson with views of north Lake Tahoe.
- 10 km nordic ski loop that stays low on the undulating trails of the nordic center.
Both courses include varied terrain. Each race is followed by a finish line celebration with food and live music. A separate Tour Wave is offered for skiers who wish to complete the 26 km course at an untimed, leisurely pace; this wave is not timed and has no posted online race results, is limited to the first 35 participants, and requires skiers to self-start at the Tahoe Cross Country Center and yield to timed racers.
The event is the main fundraising event for Tahoe Nordic Search & Rescue, a non-profit all-volunteer organization. Race proceeds are used primarily to purchase equipment for the team and to support winter survival and avalanche education programs. Registration is capped at 800 participants, fees increase as the event approaches, and refunds are not available because the event is a fundraiser.
Early bib and shirt pickup is available in the days before the event, and race day bib pickup is offered at the venue. Awards are given for overall men and women and for age groups. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
