The Great Ski Race 2027 : Tahoe City, CA
The Great Ski Race is a cross-country ski event held at the Tahoe Cross Country Center in Tahoe City, California on March 7, 2027. The event offers two loop course options that both start and finish at the Tahoe Cross Country Center and feature varied nordic terrain.
Distances:
- 26 km loop around Mt. Watson with scenic views of north Lake Tahoe.
- 10 km loop that stays low on the undulating trails of the nordic center.
Both distances are followed by a finish line party with food and live music. The event includes a Tour Wave for skiers who wish to ski the 26 km course at a leisurely pace; this wave is untimed, has no posted online race results, and is limited to the first 35 participants who sign up. Race format uses assigned start waves and bib numbers; officials direct racers into start corrals and finish times are adjusted by wave. Starting in the wrong wave leads to disqualification.
Registration is capped at 800 participants. Fees vary by registration period and by age category with separate rates for adults and under 18. The Great Ski Race is the primary fundraising event for Tahoe Nordic Search & Rescue, a volunteer non profit. Proceeds are used to purchase team equipment and to support winter survival and avalanche education programs. Refunds are not available for this fundraiser.
