Pleasant Hill Firecracker 5K

The Pleasant Hill Firecracker 5K is an annual community running event held as part of the 50th Annual Pleasant Hill 4th of July Celebration. The event features a course through the downtown area of Pleasant Hill that has been certified by USATF (certification number CA17027RS). The route begins on Gregory Lane and consists of three laps around the downtown district before concluding at the finish line on Crescent Drive.

Participants have the choice of two main distances:

  • 5 km
  • 100-yard dash (open to children 7 years and younger)

The event is open to participants of various skill levels and ages. The organizers permit runners to participate alongside dogs or use jogging strollers during the race. Prizes are awarded to the top finishers in both the 5K and the children's dash.

Proceeds from the 5K registration fees are directed toward local education, with the event traditionally donating over $10,000 annually to Pleasant Hill schools. Participants can select a specific school to receive their donation during the registration process. Early bib and t-shirt collection is available at a local restaurant in the downtown area two days prior to the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
