Event

Place Fell 15 is scheduled for 18 July 2026 in Patterdale, with the event base at King George Playing Field on the shores of Ullswater. The race is organised by Lake District Sky Trails and is part of the Helvellyn Sky Ultra weekend. The event is a semi-technical trail race of 15 km with approximately 680 m of ascent. Minimum age to enter is 16. Entry opens 4 October 2025 and closes 15 July 2026. The entry fee is £40.00 and the maximum time allowed on course is 3.5 hours. Entries shown so far: 1 participant.

Course and services

The route circumnavigates the base of Place Fell in an anti-clockwise direction. It uses fields, marked trails and footpaths, a short road section, and both technical and easier trail sections. Key route features include Silver Crag, a stepped path down to Silver Bay, a mid-way feed and water station (CP2), passage into Boredale with a short tarmac road, a steep rise to Boredale Hause (CP4) with views towards Kirkstone Pass, and a fast, semi-technical descent that returns via a previous checkpoint before finishing at the event centre.

Race services and kit listed by the organiser include fully marked trails, an aid station mid-way, manned checkpoints, a recycled paper-mache wild flower seed bomb medal, and a vegan salty soup provided after the race.
