Place Fell 15

The Place Fell 15 is a 15 km trail race located in Patterdale within the Lake District, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The event takes place on Saturday, 18th July 2026, as part of the Helvellyn Sky Ultra weekend. The course features 680 m of total ascent and circumnavigates the base of Place Fell on the shores of Ullswater.

The route starts at the King George Playing Field and follows a mix of fields, roads, and trails. Participants travel in an anti-clockwise direction, passing Silver Crag and descending a stepped path toward Silver Bay. The course then curves into the Boredale Valley, utilizing a brief tarmac section before a steep ascent to Boredale Hause. From this point, the route features a descent leading back toward the event center.

The event is semi-technical and serves as an introduction to more technical sky racing. Participants must be at least 16 years old to enter. There is a maximum time limit of 3.5 hours to complete the course.

The following distances and features are available:

  • 15 km valley route including manned checkpoints and a mid-way aid station.

Finishers receive a recycled wildflower seed bomb medal and vegan salty soup at the end of the race. The trails are fully marked for the duration of the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
