Place Fell 15 : event details
Place Fell 15 takes place on 18 July 2026 and is organised by Lake District Sky Trails. The event base is King George Playing Field in Patterdale on the shores of Ullswater. The race is part of the Helvellyn Sky Ultra weekend. The course distance is 15km with 680 m of ascent. Entry details: minimum age 16, entry fee £40, entries open 4 October 2025 and close 15 July 2026. The maximum allowed time on the course is 3.5 hours.
Route and race facilities
The route circumnavigates Place Fell in an anti-clockwise direction and begins from the events centre at King George Playing Field after other sky races have started. The course uses fields, trails and a short road section, and passes Silver Crag, Silver Bay and Boredale. Runners pass manned checkpoints, including timing checkpoints and a mid-way aid station (Feed & Water Station, CP2). The route rises to Boredale Hause (CP4) and later descends back toward the finish, passing the earlier checkpoint again (listed as CP5) before returning to the events centre. The race is fully marked. Finish provisions include a recycled paper-mache wild flower seed bomb medal and a vegan salty soup. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
