Pitsford Water Trail Races
The event offers fully marked and marshaled trail races around Pitsford Water, based at Brixworth Country Park. Two distances are available:
- 10k
- Half Marathon
Both routes leave Brixworth Country Park, cross the dam toward Pitsford and follow trails above Pitsford Water toward Holcot. The 10k returns along the causeway and track beside the water to the park. The half marathon continues through Holcot then visits Hannington, Walgrave, Old and Scaldwell before rejoining the lakeside track for the final mile. The half marathon includes a number of stiles between fields.
Entries require a minimum age of 16 for the 10k and 17 for the half marathon. The race cut-off time is four hours for both distances. Running with dogs is not permitted because the routes use farmland footpaths. Both routes are signed with arrow markers and in-ear headphones are not allowed; bone-conduction devices that do not sit in the ear are permitted.
On-course support includes professional first aid at the start and finish and access to runners on course. Volunteers provide water at three stations on the half marathon (around miles 3, 6.5 and 9.5) and one station on the 10k (around mile 3). Trail shoes or shoes with grip are advisable. Mandatory items include a fully charged mobile phone with the numbers of the Race Director and Race Medic (half marathon) and a personal cup because the races are cupless.
Prizes are awarded to the top three male and female finishers in each race and all finishers receive a specially commissioned race medal. Free digital race photos are provided after the event.
