About the race
The Pioneer Power Sprint Triathlon & 5K takes place at Texas Woman's University in Denton, Texas. The event features a sprint triathlon and a separate 5K run/walk, plus team and relay options.
Competition formats include individual entries with age groups in five year increments, a team competition, and a three person relay. The team competition has male, female, and coed divisions; each team member completes all three triathlon components and the three individual times are added for a team total. Teams remain eligible for overall and age group awards. The three person relay has male, female, and coed divisions; each relay member completes one component and the combined times determine results.
The sprint triathlon distances are:
- Pool swim: 200 yards
- Bike: 10.1 miles
- Run: 3.1 miles
The 5K event distance is:
- 5K run/walk: 3.1 miles
Dallas Athletes Racing produces the event. Over 4,000 athletes participated in the first 16 editions. Profits from the 2026 edition benefited the Texas Woman's University soccer team. Competitors receive a tech shirt, socks, and a finisher's medal. The post race gathering includes free food and drink, awards, giveaways, vendor booths, and pancakes.
