About the race
The Phil Phest 5k is the fifth annual edition of a community race held in Harahan, Louisiana, that benefits the Running For Dreams Foundation. The event is scheduled for March 20, 2027 and is based at 98 Fortier Lane, Harahan, LA. The race supports Running For Dreams, a foundation that raises funds for children who have lost a parent to cancer. All race proceeds go to the foundation.
The event page describes a personal origin story involving recovery from surgery and chemotherapy that led to the founding of the charity. Registration packages include a chip-timed 5K, a numbered bib, a custom unisex event t-shirt (not guaranteed for race day registration), and a finisher medal. Packet pickup is scheduled before race weekend at LA Pharmacy, 839 S Clearview Pkwy, Jefferson, LA 70121. Virtual entries receive mailed bibs, medals and shirts and are for non–in-person participation. Post-race activities take place on the grounds of the Colonial Club and include live music by Refried Confuzion and food and drink provided by several sponsors.
Awards are presented during the post-race festivities and cover overall top Male and Female plus the top two male and female finishers in standard age divisions from under 18 through 80 and over.
