Event Overview
The Phil Phest 5k is an annual community event held in Harahan, Louisiana. The 2026 edition marks the fourth year of this race, which supports the Running For Dreams Foundation. The foundation provides resources for children who have lost a parent to cancer. The event features a chip-timed race starting and finishing near 98 Fortier Lane, with festivities centered at the parking lot of St Rita's Catholic Church.
Participants in the timed events receive a numbered bib, a custom unisex event t-shirt, and a finisher medal. However, t-shirts are not guaranteed for those who register on the day of the race.
Distances
- 5k Run: A 3.1-mile out-and-back course available for runners and walkers.
- Kids K: A shorter distance designed for children aged 0-8.
Post-Race Activities and Awards
Immediately following the athletic events, a post-race festival takes place. This "Phestival" includes live music, food, and various beverages. Individuals who do not wish to participate in the race can purchase a separate ticket to attend the party.
An awards ceremony is held during the festivities to recognize top performers. Custom awards are presented to the overall top male and female finishers, as well as the top two male and female participants in several age categories ranging from under 18 to over 80. Packet pickup is available the day before the event at a local pharmacy in Jefferson and on the afternoon of the race at the event site. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
