PFC. Joseph "Dimps" Marquez Memorial 5K
The PFC. Joseph "Dimps" Marquez Memorial 5K is an athletic event held in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. The event takes place at Mission BBQ on Seaside Outlet Drive and supports the JM42 Foundation. Participants have the choice of several categories to complete the distance:
- 5K (Run or Walk)
- Competitive Walking 5K
- Virtual 5K
The Competitive Walking 5K category is strictly for athletes who intend to walk the entire course without jogging or running. For those unable to attend in person, a virtual option allows for participation from any location.
The event provides specific amenities to participants, including water and Gatorade, along with refreshments provided by Mission BBQ. Due to insurance liability, dogs are not permitted at the event. Registration bibs are non-transferable and the organizers do not offer refunds on registration fees.
The race utilizes the MYLAPS BibTag Timing System for electronic chip timing. Awards are presented based on various categories. Top overall male and female finishers, as well as masters winners, are determined by gun time. Further awards are distributed based on chip time for the top three male and female finishers in ten-year age groups, ranging from 18 and under to 70 and over. There is also an award for the top male and female competitive walkers. Results are posted online during and immediately following the completion of the race.
