Petit Family Foundation 5K Road Race
The Petit Family Foundation 5K Road Race is an annual fundraising event that began in early 2008. The event supports the Petit Family Foundation and its grantmaking; the foundation has awarded more than $9 million in grants to programs and projects across Connecticut and beyond.
Distances
- 3.1 miles (5K) point to point course
- 1.3 miles Fitness Walk
The 5K is a USATF certified course (No. CT08008JHP) and is described as completely flat. The course uses computerized timing and scoring, with timing and results managed by The Last Mile Racing. Clocks are located at the 1 mile and 2 mile markers and mile splits are provided at miles 1, 2, and 3.
Event features include a free kids fun run for ages 8 and under and a separate starting position for fitness walkers behind the 5K runners. Entry for either the 5K race or the fitness run is listed at $30 per person. Online registration is available and closes July 10, 2026; a printable PDF registration form is also provided for mail in registrations.
The event is staged at Plainville High School in Plainville, Connecticut, and all proceeds benefit the Petit Family Foundation, which continues the foundation's community work and grant programs. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
