Farm City Week 5K Trail Day
Farm City Week 5K Trail Day is a trail running and walking event held on a family owned 63 acre farm in Hurdle Mills, North Carolina. The route covers 3.1 Miles over two laps and passes through old growth forest, along a stream, past classic North Carolina Piedmont tobacco barns, around a pond, and finishes in front of the goat pen.
The event coincides with a Person County Farmers Market pop-up and offers locally sourced prepared food on site; a farm to table picnic brunch is available for an additional fee. An event photographer will be on site and the property trails will remain open for visitors to explore after the run.
The organizers state the event will proceed in rain or shine except in cases of extreme rain or wind; registrants will be notified via email by November 13 if conditions require cancellation. The event is open to all ages and experience levels; participants under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
Registration information provided by the organizers notes an entry fee of $40 and registration opens and closes on specified dates prior to the event. Twenty percent of proceeds will be donated to the Person County 4-H youth program. The Land at Hawkins Loop property features gently sloping pastures, modernized century old farmhouses, salvaged tobacco barns, and on site habitat managed by a Certified Master Gardener.
