Perennial: A Time Based Endurance Run
Perennial is a lap-based timed running event on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden / Daniel Stowe Conservancy in Belmont, NC. Participants choose a time category and complete as many laps as possible on a roughly 5K-ish loop that is about 95% trails and crushed gravel. Runners are ranked by total laps completed and then by elapsed time within their chosen category. Time categories available:
- 3 Hour
- 6 Hour
- 10 Hour
Approximate lap targets and corresponding distances noted by the organizer include 4 laps (half marathon-ish), 8 laps (marathon-ish), 12 laps (about 40 miles), and 16 laps (about 50 miles).
Logistics and services
Race headquarters and the aid station sit at the start/finish of each lap. The event is cup free and safety pin free; participants are expected to be largely self-sufficient for food and gear. Basic on-site provisions include water, Tailwind, soda, pretzels, chips, PB&J, and nearby restroom facilities (about 200 ft from Race HQ). Registration is limited to the first 150 entrants (50 per time category). Registered participants receive a custom race bib and a custom shirt (guaranteed for those who register by the shirt deadline). The event supports Daniel Stowe Conservancy and collects donations and recyclables for partner recycling programs. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
