Event overview
Perennial is a time-based running event held on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden / Conservancy in Belmont, North Carolina. Participants choose one time category: 3 Hour, 6 Hour, or 10 Hour. The event is limited to the first 150 registrants (50 per time category). The Daniel Stowe Conservancy is the event beneficiary and additional registration donations go directly to the Conservancy.
Course, format and logistics
The course is a loop of roughly 5 km per lap, composed of about 95% trails and crushed gravel, with the start/finish and aid station at Race HQ. Runners are ranked first by number of laps completed and then by elapsed time; distance covered after a time category ends does not count toward standings. The event is cup-free and safety-pin-free; participants are required to be self-sufficient for personal gear, shade and lighting. Race HQ will provide water, Tailwind, soda and basic food items (pretzels, chips, candy, PB&Js), and bathrooms are located about 200 ft from Race HQ. Friends and family may crew at Race HQ but may not pace on course.
Registration and awards
Registration has tiered pricing (regular, last-call, day-of) and includes a custom shirt (guaranteed if registered by the shirt deadline), a souvenir race bib, and eligibility for escalating prizes based on laps. Example lap milestones listed are: 4 laps (half-marathon-ish), 8 laps (marathon-ish), 12 laps (about 40 miles) and 16 laps (about 50 miles). Registration also includes a discounted entry to the Garden and sponsor giveaways. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
