Peoria Jaycees' Firecracker 5000

The Peoria Jaycees' Firecracker 5000 is a Fourth of July event on July 4, 2026, held in Downtown Peoria, Southwest Water Street. The event is a 5K (3.1 miles) on a flat course along the Riverfront Trail. The course starts and finishes near the former Hooters Restaurant. There is one water station on the course and an optional color run after the main event. The event is organized by the Peoria Jaycees and timing and scoring are provided by ShaZam Racing. The race is held rain or shine and there are no refunds.

Logistics and services

Registration fees vary by date and shirts are guaranteed for registrations by June 20. The entry fee includes chip timing, a shirt while supplies last, and refreshments. Available refreshments include subs from Avanti's while supplies last, donuts, snacks, and water. Participants aged 21 and over receive two beer tokens. Children 10 and under register at half price. Packet pickup is available Thursday, July 3 from 12:00 pm to 6:00 pm at RC Outfitters, and on race day in the parking lot of the former Hooters Restaurant with limited hours; packets may be picked up for friends and family. Awards are given to overall and masters top finishers by gun time and to age-group top three finishers by chip time. Race photos will be added to each finisher page.
