Peoria Jaycees' Firecracker 5000 : Fourth of July 5K
Peoria Jaycees' Firecracker 5000 is a Fourth of July 5K held in Downtown Peoria on the Riverfront Trail. The course covers approximately 3.1 miles on a flat trail, begins downtown and finishes near the former Hooters restaurant at 418 Southwest Water Street. There is one water station along the route and an optional color run that takes place after the main event.
The event is organized by the Peoria Jaycees and uses chip timing provided by ShaZam Racing. Registration tiers apply and shirts are guaranteed for those who register by June 20; shirts and some refreshments are available while supplies last. The entry fee includes chip timing, a shirt while supplies last, refreshments including subs from Avanti's, donuts, snacks, and water. Participants age 21 and over receive two beer tokens. Children 10 and under pay half price.
Packet pickup is available the day before at RC Outfitters and on race day in the parking lot of the former Hooters restaurant; participants may pick up packets for friends and family. Awards include overall top male and female and overall masters top male and female by gun time, plus age group awards for top three males and females by chip time across listed age divisions.
