Peoria Jaycees' Firecracker 5000
The Peoria Jaycees' Firecracker 5000 is a Fourth of July 5K held on July 4, 2026, in Downtown Peoria at Southwest Water Street. The event is presented by the Peoria Jaycees and uses chip timing provided by ShaZam Racing. It is listed as the 46th running.
The course is a flat 3.1 mile route on the Riverfront Trail. The route begins downtown and finishes near the former Hooters restaurant. There is one water station along the course.
Entry fees include chip timing and a shirt while supplies last. Postrace refreshments are provided, including subs from Avanti's while supplies last, donuts, snacks, and water. Participants age 21 and older receive two beer tokens. Children 10 and under are charged half price.
Packet pickup is available the day before at RC Outfitters and on race day at the parking lot of the former Hooters location. The race is held rain or shine and refunds are not offered. Results pages include photos added after the event.
Awards are given by gun time for overall top male and top female and for male and female masters 40 and over. Age group awards by chip time are given to the top three men and women in standard age brackets. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
