Peoria Jaycees' Firecracker 5000
The Peoria Jaycees' Firecracker 5000 is a long-standing Fourth of July running event held in Peoria, Illinois. Now in its 47th year, the race follows a 3.1 mile (5K) flat course along the Riverfront Trail. The route begins in downtown Peoria and concludes near the former Hooters restaurant location.
Participants have access to one water station during the run. Following the main race, an optional color run is held for interested attendees. The event is part of the Peoria Holiday Race Series and features professional timing and scoring.

The course utilizes the trail along the riverfront, providing a consistent surface for runners. Registration includes chip timing, event shirts while supplies last, and various refreshments such as sandwiches, donuts, and snacks. Participants aged 21 and over are also eligible for two beverage tokens.
Awards are presented to the overall top male and female finishers, as well as the top male and female in the masters category (ages 40 and over). Additionally, age group awards are provided for the top three male and female finishers in several categories ranging from ages 10 and under to 70 and over.
