Peoria Jaycees' Firecracker 5000
Peoria Jaycees' Firecracker 5000 is a Fourth of July 5K held in downtown Peoria along the Riverfront Trail. The event is presented by the Peoria Jaycees and is part of the Peoria Holiday Race Series. It is noted as being in its 47th year.
The course is a 3.1 mile flat route along the riverfront and includes one water station. The route begins downtown and finishes near the former Hooters location on Southwest Water Street. The event uses chip timing and is timed and scored by ShaZam Racing. Results include photos added to each finisher page.
Post race options include an optional color run. Refreshments are provided and include subs from Avanti's, donuts, snacks, and water while supplies last. Participants aged 21 and older receive two beer tokens. Shirts are included while supplies last and are guaranteed for registrations completed by June 20. Children 10 and under register at half price. The event runs rain or shine and there are no refunds.
Packet pickup is available the day before at RC Outfitters and on race day at the former Hooters parking lot. Awards are given for overall male and female winners, masters winners 40 and older, and age group top three finishers by chip time for standard age categories.
