Penn Valley Daffodil Race
The Penn Valley Daffodil Race is a long-standing community event in Nevada County, taking place in April. The race routes feature the town of Penn Valley, traveling across green rolling hills and rural country roads. Participants can observe local scenery often filled with daffodils and green grass during the spring season.
The event offers three distinct distances:
- 10 km
- 5 km
- 5 km Walk
The 5 km course follows the edge of Western Gateway Park, passes a dog park, and continues to a park and ride area before turning back to the finish line. The 10 km route follows the same initial path but includes a detour through the park. On the return trip, the 10 km course turns through the rural countryside of Penn Valley before heading back to the finish.
Event logistics are managed by the Sierra TrailBlazers, who handle entries, bibs, and awards. The Penn Valley Lions serve as course marshals along the roads. In addition to the races, the Penn Valley Chamber provides a pancake breakfast for a fee. Due to insurance requirements, dogs are not permitted on the race course, though they are allowed at the start and finish areas. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
