Event Overview
The Penn Alexander School Run for Art & Science is a community event featuring two distances: a 5K run and a 1-Mile Fun Run/Walk. It is the 14th annual edition.
Course Details
The 5K course starts on Locust Street near the school's front entrance. It proceeds through the Penn campus via Locust Walk, goes to Penn Park, and returns to finish on Locust Street at the school. Pets and strollers are not permitted on the 5K course. The 1-Mile Fun Run/Walk starts and finishes on Locust Street by the school playground. Its route goes to the compass at 37th and Locust Streets and back. Strollers are welcome for this event, but pets are not permitted.
Race Day & Logistics
Both events take place on Sunday, May 31, 2026. Packet pick-up occurs at the school on the Wednesday and Thursday before the race, and is also available on race day starting at 7:30 AM. A medical form is available for participants with conditions like asthma.
Awards & Extras
Prizes are awarded to the overall male and female winners and to first-place male and female finishers in various age groups for the 5K. All participants under 18 in the 1-Mile Fun Run receive a medal upon finishing. Participants can order a race t-shirt. A performance shirt upgrade is available for an additional fee.
