Pemaquid Beach Triathlon
The Pemaquid Beach Triathlon is held at Pemaquid Beach Park in the town of Bristol, Maine (New Harbor). The event includes an individual triathlon and a relay option for teams of up to three people. Registration fees listed by the organizer are $95 for individual entries and $144 per relay team. Registration closes at noon on the day before the race and there is no race-day registration.

The swim is a 400-yard ocean course that follows a clockwise route around two buoys, starting and ending at Pemaquid Beach. Water temperatures average in the mid-to-low 60s in August; wetsuits are recommended but not required and sleeveless wetsuits are allowed. The bike follows the original 17.4 mile loop through Bristol Mills, Lower Round Pond Road, and Route 32, with steady, gentle rolling hills and coastal views of Muscongus Bay and Monhegan Island. The run is a 3.1-mile out-and-back along Pemaquid Trail with a moderate hill leaving the park and otherwise mostly flat terrain.
Professional chip timing is provided. Individual athletes receive split times for swim, bike, run, and transitions. Relay teams share one ankle timing chip and must hand it off at their designated bike rack. Awards include overall top male and female, top three relay teams, and first and second by standard age groups. The event is a fundraiser for Bristol Parks and Recreation; proceeds support a playground at Pemaquid Beach Park and the organizer has reported amounts raised toward the playground fund. Registrations completed before July 31 are guaranteed a race T-shirt; all finishers receive a handmade finisher prize. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
