PECO XC League Race 1 takes place at Temple Newsam Country Park, Leeds. The event is a cross country race run over a single undulating lap of about 4.5 to 5.0 miles. The course is not suitable for wheelchairs.

Entry is organised around a season ticket that must be purchased online; the season ticket costs £17 and provides entry to all five league races, the end of season relays and the League presentation evening. All entrants are allocated a race number with a timing chip that must be kept for the whole season. Replacements for lost or damaged numbers can be purchased at Race HQ for £3 for seniors.

The league is open only to clubs that are members of the PECO XC League. Competitors must be paid up members of a club affiliated to England Athletics at the time of the race. Affiliated members of non league clubs may run as guests; unattached runners are not permitted. Guest entries do not contribute to team scores and are not eligible for individual series points. Veterans categories are determined by the date of the first league race. Minimum age on race day is 16.

Race HQ is The Courtyard at Temple Newsam; the Start and Finish are on the field in front of Temple Newsam House, about a five minute walk from registration. Facilities include toilets and changing rooms; there is no water, no distance markers, no showers and no baggage storage. Entry limit is 2000.
