Peavine Peak Hill Climb
Peavine Peak Hill Climb is the third annual running event held near Reno, Nevada, with a listed route of 9.4 miles and 3,018 ft of total elevation gain. The event is based at Melton Elementary School, 6575 Archimedes Ln, Reno, NV.
The course begins with roughly half a mile on access roads and neighborhood trails before entering Chalk Canyon. Runners ascend Chalk Canyon on singletrack for about 2 miles to an aid station at the Peavine Road intersection. From there the route continues with a very steep ascent on a rocky ATV trail along Tower Ridge to the summit of Peavine Peak. After the summit the course descends about 2.4 miles on the smooth dirt of Peavine Road to a second aid station at the top of Chalk Canyon. The final section follows the same canyon route back to the elementary school.
The event description notes two aid stations, a mix of trail surfaces including singletrack and rocky ATV trail, and an out-and-back style routing. There is packet pickup on race day and a cutoff back at Melton Elementary School. Registration closes October 18. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
