Peavine Peak Hill Climb
This is the 3rd annual Peavine Peak Hill Climb held in Reno, NV, with the course measured at 9.4 miles and a total elevation gain of 3,018 ft. The route begins near Melton Elementary School and uses a mix of access roads and neighborhood trails for the opening half mile before entering Chalk Canyon.
Runners ascend Chalk Canyon on singletrack for about 2 miles to the first aid station at the Peavine Road intersection. After the aid station the course continues with a very steep climb on a rocky ATV trail up Tower Ridge to the summit of Peavine Peak. The course crosses the summit and descends about 2.4 miles on the smooth dirt of Peavine Road to a second aid station at the top of Chalk Canyon. The final section follows the same canyon singletrack and neighborhood trails back to Melton Elementary School.
