Journal Jog 8K
The Journal Jog 8K is a long-standing athletic event held in Reno, Nevada. Established in 1969, it is recognized as the oldest footrace in the city. The event takes place in the Old Southwest Reno area, featuring a flat and fast course that traverses through historic neighborhoods. The race concludes with a finish directly on the Reno High School track.
Participating athletes can choose from several categories:
- 8K Stroller-Run: A competitive division for individuals pushing a child in a stroller for the duration of the course.
- 8K Run/Walk/Stroller-Walk: A general category open to all runners, walkers, and those walking with strollers.
- Junior Jog: A short distance event designed for children ages 10 and under near the main finish area.
The Junior Jog is specifically organized to provide younger participants with the experience of a community race. These athletes finish their run on the high school track alongside participants from the 8K field. The event emphasizes traditional participation within the Northern Nevada running community, maintaining a consistent presence in the region for over five decades. Each category requires registration, with specific fees and periods assigned to the different divisions. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
