About the race
The Perry – Berkley – Rippey (PBR) Half Marathon is an adventure run that travels from Perry through Berkley to Rippey in Iowa. It takes place annually on the first Saturday of February and coincides with the BRR Ride bike event. Registration is free and must be completed online on or before race day; registration opens June 21, 2026. The course uses all paved roads and is described as mostly flat with gradual hills.
Support is minimal: there is one aid station at the halfway point in Berkley. Participants are expected to carry their own food, drink, and extra clothing or arrange for a companion to provide supplies. The starting area is located in front of Perry Grand 3 Theatres in Perry, and the finish is at the Rippey COOP before crossing Highway 144. Because the course is point to point, runners are responsible for their own transportation to and from the start and finish areas. Merchandise is available for sale on race day with listed prices for items such as teeshirts, headbands, stocking hats (currently out of stock), and hoodies.
Donations are optional; unspecified proceeds are split 50% to PD Walkers/Warriors for Parkinson’s Research and 50% to cancer research. All finishers receive a handcrafted wooden medal plus snacks and a drink while supplies last, and top finishers in each division receive a larger wooden medal.
