Trestle Hustle
The Trestle Hustle is an annual community running and multisport event held on the High Trestle Trail in Madrid. The 17th edition took place on June 20, 2026, and reported 208 athletes registered across in-person and virtual categories. Participants came from across Iowa as well as from Illinois and Missouri.
Race formats in 2026 included:
- 5K
- 10K
- Duathlon
- Virtual events
The event served as the kickoff to High Trestle Fest, celebrating the communities along the trail. Organizers and volunteers supported event operations with setup, check-in, route support, bike aid, medal distribution, and cleanup. Public safety and medical services were provided by local agencies and the hospital ambulance service, and the hospital engineering team assisted with event logistics.
Post-race food and beverages were provided by local vendors, and beverages were donated by a national beverage company. Photographers captured race-day moments for public results and photos.
Funds raised through the event benefit the Boone County Hospital Foundation and are used to provide equipment, programs, and services for Boone County Hospital that otherwise would not be available. The event is presented as an annual foundation activity that combines community participation, local support, and fundraising for hospital resources.
