The Trestle Hustle is a community fitness event held in Madrid, Iowa, on the High Trestle Trail. The event is organized to support the Boone County Hospital Foundation and features a variety of endurance disciplines on a scenic, well-marked course. The start and finish lines are located near the Dalander Park and Johnson Trailhead area.
Participants can choose from several event formats:
- 5K Run/Walk: An event open to various abilities, including walkers.
- 10K Run: The signature distance and the only race option that crosses the High Trestle Trail Bridge.
- Duathlon: A multi-sport challenge consisting of a 2-mile run, a 14-mile bike ride, and a final 2-mile run; participation is available for both solo athletes and relay teams.
- Virtual Options: Remote participation for the 5K, 10K, and Duathlon is available during the race weekend.
The event is open to participants aged 14 and older, while younger athletes may join with the consent and supervision of a parent or guardian. All registered in-person participants receive a finisher medal and professional timing services. The course is supported by hydration stations for the running events and transition areas, with safety monitoring provided by local law enforcement and EMS. The race is held rain or shine, and event-day refreshments are provided to participants. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
