Event Information
The Paws in Motion 5K is scheduled for Saturday, May 30, 2026. This will be the third year of the event. It is described as a family- and pet-friendly event designed to raise awareness and funds for local animal rescues.
Location and Schedule
The event takes place at the Gretna Riverfront Amphitheatre on the levee at the corner of Huey P. Long Ave and First Street in Gretna, Louisiana. Registration and packet pickup begin at 7:00 AM, with the 5K starting at 8:30 AM.
Fundraising Impact
All proceeds from the event benefit a local animal shelter. In previous years, the event has raised funds for specific causes. In 2024, $4,000 was raised to purchase a dental cleaning machine for the JPAWS shelter. In 2025, proceeds helped donate 10,000 pounds of pet food to the Westbank Food Pantry at JPAWS.
