Paws in Motion 5K
The Paws in Motion 5K returns for its third year in 2026. This community event takes place at the Gretna Riverfront Amphitheatre, specifically on the levee located at the corner of Huey P. Long Avenue and First Street in Gretna, Louisiana. The event serves as a fundraiser where all proceeds are donated to benefit local animal shelters and rescues.
Participants can choose to complete the course by running or walking. The event is designed to be accessible to various fitness levels and ages, and attendees are permitted to bring their dogs to participate alongside them. Previous editions of the race have funded specific initiatives such as purchasing dental equipment for animal shelters and donating 10,000 pounds of pet food to local food pantries.
The event features several amenities and activities beyond the race itself. Participants have access to refreshments and can take part in a raffle held after the run. An awards ceremony is conducted once the final participant finishes the course. Registration for the event is non-refundable.
