Paws Colinas 5k-9
The Paws Colinas 5k-9 is an annual event held at the Toyota Music Factory in Irving, Texas. Organized by the Irving Marathon Running Series and the Las Colinas Association, the event benefits Irving Animal Services. Participants can choose to run or walk the course which passes through the Las Colinas Urban Center.
The event offers several categories for participation:
- 5k (Large Dog >25 lbs)
- 5k (Small Dog <25 lbs)
- 5k (Human Only)
- Virtual 5k (Dog and Human options)
Safety and health regulations are required for all canine participants. Dogs must be licensed and up to date on vaccinations, with proof of a current rabies vaccine required at packet pickup. Each participant is limited to one dog, and all dogs must remain on a standard, non-retractable leash with a maximum length of six feet. Leashes must not be tied to the runner's body.
The event features a chip-timed race with professional street closures and traffic control provided by off-duty police officers. A post-race festival on the plaza includes a live DJ, food and beverage vendors, and costume contests for both humans and dogs. Participants receive a race bib with a timing chip, finisher medals for both runners and dogs, and access to race photos.
