The BMW Dallas Marathon is produced by the Dallas White Rock Marathon, a nonprofit organization founded in 1971 that promotes health and physical fitness through running events. The organization presents a weekend of running and walking events that includes the BMW Dallas Marathon as its marquee distance.
Event distances and formats include:
- Marathon
- Half Marathon
- 50K Ultra Marathon
- 5-Person Relay
- 10K
- 5K
- 5K Team Challenge
- Friday Night Lights Mile

The courses highlight Dallas neighborhoods, entertainment districts, and notable city landmarks. Large crowds of spectators line the streets on BMW Dallas Marathon Day, which is observed on the second Sunday of December, to cheer participants. The event is recognized as the official marathon of the City of Dallas.
Since naming a primary beneficiary in 1997, the BMW Dallas Marathon organization has donated nearly $5 million to Scottish Rite for Children. The 2026 festival is scheduled for December 11–13, 2026, and the event program also includes volunteer opportunities and official partners from the local and national running community.
