Pawpaw 10 Miler and 5 Miler - Powhatan State Park
The Pawpaw 10 Miler and 5 Miler is a trail event at Powhatan State Park in Powhatan, Virginia, located at 4616 Powhatan State Park Road. The event uses trails with James River frontage and nearly 20 miles of park trails.
The course runs along the river, through reclaimed farm fields and shady forests, and includes sections of singletrack and open fields. The trail along the river is described as flat, fast, and scenic. Away from the river there are climbs into open fields, wooded singletrack that passes historic cabin ruins, and a return to open fields and the Equestrian Trailhead Parking Lot.
Support and services include a water station near mile 5. Participants registered by September 1 receive a gender specific short sleeve shirt. Food will be available for purchase after the event from the Cafe at Maidens, with boxed lunches offered as an add-on at checkout.
The entry fee is listed at $50 and the event is a benefit for the Friends of Powhatan State Park, with part of the proceeds supporting that volunteer organization. The event is a participant in the Virginia State Parks Adventure Series and has sponsorship from Dominion Energy.
