CarMax Tacky Light Run
The CarMax Tacky Light Run takes place on December 12, 2026 at Midlothian Mines Park. The event features a festive evening 6k through Walton Park and a separate Twilight 1-Mile Kids Run for children ages 4 to 12. The course includes the event's famous light tunnel at the start and finish and passes dozens of homes with extensive holiday light displays.
The event is limited to the first 5,000 registrants. Registration pricing ranges from $20 to $55 depending on date and category, with an income based rate available at $20. A virtual participation option is offered for participants who cannot attend in person.
Every participant receives admission to the North Pole, a choice of a knit beanie or event shirt, a commemorative bib, an ornament finisher medal, photo opportunities, and Wegmans candy can goodies. The Twilight 1-Mile Kids Run finishes with medals, a North Pole party, and other family oriented elements.
Additional event features include a Costume Contest and a Neighborhood Superlative Contest. The event supports Sports Backers youth programs such as Kids On The Move and the Active Living Leadership ALL Stars, which provide shoes, transportation support, leadership development, and scholarships.
