Pat Dunbar Memorial (NIMRA League Race)
The event is a NIMRA League mountain race organised by Newry AC on 11 April 2026 at Leitrim Lodge. The course is described as a medium distance open mountain race of approximately 13 km (8 miles) with about 682 m (2240 ft) of ascent. Parking is at Leitrim Lodge carpark.
The route follows the Mourne Way towards Rostrevor, passing through gates and forest roads and using a mixture of paths, wall crossings and open hillside. There are a number of manned and unmanned checkpoints along the route. Major junctions are marked but the course is not fully marked and some navigation may be required.
All runners must carry compulsory kit including a whistle, compass, a map of the entire course (Mournes Outdoor Pursuits Map), emergency rations, waterproof clothing that covers the whole body, hat, gloves and a foil blanket. Kit will be checked prior to the start and runners will be advised of any adjustments at registration.
The event uses checkpoint dibbers and marshals. Runners who retire should report to the nearest marshal post if possible and must report to the organisers at the finish. Toilets are not provided.
