Park Point 5-Miler & 2-Mile Walk
The Park Point 5-Miler is a historic road race held in Duluth, Minnesota. Established in 1972, it is recognized as northern Minnesota’s oldest road race. The event takes place during the height of summer and includes both a 5-mile run and a 2-mile walk.
The course starts and finishes at the Park Point Beach House Pavilion. Participants travel along Minnesota Avenue, following a route that offers views of the Duluth Harbor before reaching a turnaround point that leads back to the finish line. The event has a participant capacity of 800 people, with registrations accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.
Distances available at the event:
- 5-mile run
- 2-mile walk
- Kids' Seagull Chase (open to ages 14 and under)
The event includes several participation options for different athletes. Baby joggers and strollers are permitted but must start at the back of the corral. The organizers also encourage participation from pushrim wheelchair competitors, duo teams, and other adaptive athletes.
Participants receive a short sleeve shirt as part of their entry fee, with the option to skip the shirt to have a tree planted through a local sustainability initiative. All finishers receive a drink ticket for alcoholic or non-alcoholic beverages. Awards are provided for overall winners in men’s and women’s categories, masters heats, and various age divisions.
The race is part of the KP Challenge, a three-race series organized by the Young Athletes Foundation, which also includes the Saint Fennessy 4K and the Fitger’s 5K. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
