Event Overview
The Palisades Park Triathlon/Duathlon takes place at the Alpine Boat Basin in Alpine, New Jersey. The event is in its second year.
Course Details
The course utilizes the roads and paths of Palisades Park, offering views of the Hudson River along River Road and Henry Hudson Drive.
The event offers two race formats:
- Triathlon: A 400-meter open water swim in the Hudson River, a 10-mile bike ride, and a 3-mile run.
- Duathlon: A 1.5-mile run, followed by the same 10-mile bike segment, and finishing with the same 3-mile run.
The bike and run segments are shared. The bike course on Henry Hudson Drive is an out-and-back route with an elevation gain of over 300 feet, featuring several short hills. The run course is also an out-and-back on Henry Hudson Drive.
The swim is open water. Water temperature in June may not be warm, and wetsuits are permitted but not mandatory. The Hudson Kayak Club provides safety volunteers for the swim portion. The event is not USAT certified or sanctioned, and a USAT license is not required.
