14th Annual Paint the Parkway Pink Fun Run
The Paint the Parkway Pink Fun Run is an annual community event presented by the ThriveWell Cancer Foundation. Held at the San Antonio Police Training Academy, the event supports individuals impacted by cancer through various running and walking activities. The course is located on the academy campus and is characterized as flat and fast, winding through the grounds to provide a straightforward experience for all participants.
Participants can choose from several distance options:
- 5K
- First Responder 5k
- 5K Survivor
- "Chappy B" 1 Mile
- 1 Mile Survivor
- Kid's Race (ages 2 to 8)
The event is designed as a fun run rather than a competitive race. Specifically, the 5K is non-competitive and does not use timing chips or hold an awards ceremony, although a clock is provided at the finish line for participants to check their own times. Registered participants in the 5K, 1 Mile, and Kid's Race receive a commemorative t-shirt. An "After Party" is held following the finish to celebrate survivors.
For those unable to attend the in-person event in San Antonio, virtual options are available for the 5K and the "Chappy B" Mile. Virtual participants receive a race packet via mail, which includes a t-shirt, a medal, and a goodie bag. Group participation is also available for those wishing to form teams.
