Course, aid, and race services
Most of the routes run on moderately technical dirt trails and twisty single-track on Montara Mountain and surrounding coastal foothills, with some fire road sections and coastal views. Courses are marked with colored surveyor ribbon about every 200 meters; turns receive extra markers and laminated signs at complicated sections. Blue ribbons indicate wrong-way trails and should not be passed.
Aid stations provide a variety of food and drinks such as energy gels, chews, Stroopwafels, trail mix, chips, PB&J, Coke, ginger ale, water, and Skratch Labs hydration. Stations carry basic first aid items but no anti-inflammatory medicine. The event is cupless: runners must carry their own bottle or reusable cup; reusable cups will be sold at the event. Races are chip timed using MyLaps and Race Director; disposable chips are attached to the back of each bib. Drop bag service is not available.
