Pacifica Foothills Trail Run
The event is held at San Pedro Valley Park in Pacifica, California, a coastal mountain park of about 1,150 acres in the Santa Cruz Mountain foothills. The course network includes routes that visit Montara Mountain North Peak, with the longer distance climbing roughly 1,900 feet and offering views toward the Farallon Islands. During rainy months Brooks Falls can be seen dropping about 175 feet in three tiers.
Distances offered:
- 30K
- Half Marathon
- 10K
The 10K course is described as faster with relatively little elevation gain. The 30K has a six hour time limit. Aid stations provide a variety of fuels and fluids such as energy gels, chews, trail mix, salty snacks, fruit, water, sports hydration mix, and carbonated beverages; stations carry basic first aid items and salt tablets. The organizer recommends that runners carry at least one 20 ounce bottle because aid station spacing varies.
Parking is available inside the park for a fee of $6.00, with limited additional parking in nearby neighborhoods. Dogs are not permitted in the park or on the trails. Volunteers assist with setup, aid stations, course marshaling, and other duties; volunteers receive a race T shirt, food, and may earn credit toward future events. Awards include custom trophies for top overall finishers, medals for all finishers, and age group prizes. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
