Pacific Coast Triathlon at Crystal Cove State Park
The Pacific Coast Triathlon is a multisport event held at Crystal Cove State Park in Newport Coast, Orange County, California, positioned between Newport Beach and Laguna Beach. The event offers multiple race formats on a single race day, with ocean swims, a closed bike course along Pacific Coast Highway, and runs on Crystal Cove coastal paths and trails. The event has been staged since 2002.
Race formats and typical distances include:
- Sprint Triathlon: 750 m swim, 20K bike, 5K run
- Olympic Triathlon: 1500 m swim, 40K bike, 10K run
- Sprint Duathlon: 0.5 mi run, 12 mi bike, 3 mi run
- Olympic Duathlon: 1 mi run, 40K bike, 10K run
- Sprint Aquabike: 750 m swim, 12 mi bike
- Olympic Aquabike: 1500 m swim, 40K bike
- Relay: team or individual relay options for Sprint and Olympic distances
- 5K Beach and Coastal Trail Run: 3.1 mi on coastal trails, same finish as the Sprint run leg
Race services included with entry are live chip timing, food truck lunch, full course closure, aid stations roughly every mile on the run, USLA lifeguard swim support, and UCI medical team coverage. A portion of each entry supports the Love for Los Foundation. Registrations are final and nonrefundable; deferrals are permitted through August 18, 2027 per the event policy.
