Pacific Coast Triathlon
The Pacific Coast Triathlon takes place at Crystal Cove State Beach in Laguna Beach. This multi-sport event features a variety of competition formats across different distances, utilized by athletes of various experience levels. The course incorporates the Pacific Ocean, the Pacific Coast Highway, and local trail systems.
The triathlon begins with an open-water swim in the Pacific Ocean with lifeguard support. The cycling portion follows on a fully closed, rolling course along the Pacific Coast Highway. Participants in the sprint distance complete two loops, while those in the olympic distance complete four loops. The run segment follows the Crystal Cove Trail and local paths, passing historic beach cottages. Depending on the tide, the route may include a section along the sand before the finish line.
