The weekend includes multiple in-person and virtual events: Sunset Sand 5K, 5K, 10K, Half Marathon, Sand Marathon, Kids 1/2 mile and 1 mile dashes, and a 12.6 mile Tour de Pacific bicycle tour. The race site and many event starts are located at the Long Beach Arch / Bolstad Avenue. The event supports the South Pacific County Humane Society and lists several local partners and sponsors.
Course, logistics and awards
The Sand Marathon is a beach course that runs south from Bolstad to Beard's Hollow with a turnaround toward Ocean Park and includes at least two aid stations. The Half Marathon, 10K and 5K use wide, paved bike paths along the peninsula and parallel the Pacific Ocean. The Tour de Pacific is a non-competitive, non-timed bike tour that uses much of the Discovery Trail, travels to downtown Ilwaco, and is a supported ride with water, energy drink, fruit and energy bars at stations plus post-ride snacks; normal road rules apply. Kids races are presented as non-competitive dashes. Packet pickup and registration are staged at the Long Beach Arch / Bolstad location. Awards include top 3 male and female, top masters, age-group placings, and special Clydesdale and Athena divisions; multi-event participants can earn special multi-race medals. Travel notes reference Portland International Airport as a nearby major airport. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
