Outrun the Stigma 5K Run/Walk - October 24, 2026
Outrun the Stigma is a community 5K run/walk held in Massapequa Park, NY at Front Street and Park Boulevard. The event uses a closed-road start and routes participants into the Massapequa Preserve for a scenic portion of the course. The 3.1 mile route spends roughly half the distance on dirt and gravel trails and half on a paved trail before returning to roadway for the finish.

Race amenities include a post-race gathering with food and music, an event t-shirt, live online/text/email results, free finish line photos, and personalized bibs for entries made at least three weeks in advance. Bib pickup is handled at the white tent in Municipal Lot 1; bib number information is available by lookup or text for last-minute registrants.
Awards are presented to the top three men and women overall, the top active NYPD officer, and top finishers in multiple age groups (15 & under through 70+). Registration fees are used to cover race expenses and are non-refundable. Proceeds support initiatives related to officer mental health, assistance for families after a suicide, grief groups, seminars for officers, awareness and prevention events, and other associated costs.
