Event Overview
The Outpace Cancer Race is an annual running and walking event hosted by the OU Health Stephenson Cancer Center in Oklahoma City. The event is held on the OU Health campus at 800 NE 10th Street. This gathering serves to build community and provide support for individuals facing cancer and their support networks.
Course Distances and Participation
Participants can choose from several on-site distances or a virtual participation option:
- 10K running race
- 5K running race
- 1-Mile Walk
- Virtual Runner (10K, 5K, or 1-Mile Walk options)
The event is organized as a family-friendly occasion where strollers are permitted on the course. Bicycles and electric scooters are not allowed, and only ADA-certified pets may accompany participants. Following the timed events, a post-race gathering known as the Bring Your Pace Bash is held for attendees.
Virtual Option
The virtual race allows participants to complete their chosen distance from any location globally. Virtual runners can log their completion times on a leaderboard to compare results with others. Registration for the virtual category includes the same items provided to in-person participants, such as a t-shirt, medal, and bracelets, with shipping costs included.
Impact and Support
The event aims to raise $175,000.00 for cancer research and patient assistance. Registration fees directly support the Stephenson Cancer Center Emergency Fund. This fund is used to assist patients with financial needs related to treatment, including lodging, medication assistance, food, and transportation.
