OUTLAST Waco : 6-hour trail endurance challenge
OUTLAST is a timed trail challenge in which participants run a 5K every hour for six hours. Each lap must be finished within the hour to remain in the event; those who miss a lap are removed from the challenge. Runners who complete all six laps receive the OUTLAST medal and a combined time that counts toward event results and the national leaderboard.
The course uses natural trail terrain with dirt, rocks, roots, and elevation. Some sections may include pavement or gravel. The event includes water, basic hydration, and snacks at the basecamp/loop start. This is a cupless event - participants are expected to provide their own bottle or hydration system. Walking is permitted provided each 5K is completed within the hour.
Awards and recognition are based on combined 5K times for those who finish all six laps. The top male and female at each event win the 1st Place OUTLAST award. Finishers are ranked on a national leaderboard; the fastest overall across all OUTLAST 6-hour events including the Championship is named National Champion and receives a $1,000 prize.
Additional incentives: completing four laps earns a “Grit Earned” patch, five laps earns a “Survivor” patch, and all participants receive a premium OUTLAST T‑shirt. The top five male and female 6-hour champions from each city qualify for the Outlast Championship in DFW on December 4, 2027, where Championship prize money is 1st $1,200, 2nd $800, 3rd $500.
