Waco Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot 5K
The Waco Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot, also known as Poultry in Motion, takes place in downtown Waco, Texas. This annual event features a variety of participation options held at Indian Spring Park near the Waco Suspension Bridge.
Participants can choose from several event categories:
- 5K Timed Run/Walk
- 5K Untimed Run/Walk
- 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk
- 1 Mile Untimed Fun Run/Walk
The 5K course is USATF certified and professionally timed. Awards are presented to the overall top male and female finishers, masters male and female, and winners across various age groups. Additionally, an award is provided for the participant wearing the best Thanksgiving-themed costume. For children aged 10 and under, there is an untimed participation option.
Specific registration tiers provide different amenities. The standard timed and untimed entries include a cotton blend short-sleeved shirt, provided the participant registers by the mid-November deadline. A "Side Dish" option is also available, which excludes the shirt and timing chip but includes a race number and a custom finisher medal featuring the event logo.
Beyond the running events, the day includes a pie-eating competition limited to 30 participants. The event benefits the Community Cancer Association, a local organization in the Waco area. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
