About the race
OUTLAST Pittsburgh is a six hour trail endurance challenge held in Gibsonia, Pennsylvania (10100 Mansion Dr). The event format requires participants to complete a 5K loop every hour, on the hour; each lap must be finished within that hour to remain in the event. Completing all six laps results in a full completion of the challenge; partial completion of four or five laps still earns recognition.
Courses are trail based and feature natural terrain, elevation, and variable conditions, with occasional pavement or gravel sections. The total advertised distance for the main event is 18 Miles. Runners have time between laps to recover, refuel, and prepare for the next loop, but must be ready to start at the top of each hour.
Support at the basecamp/loop start includes water, basic hydration, and snacks. The event is cupless; participants are expected to provide their own bottle or hydration system. All participants receive a premium OUTLAST tee. Awards and recognitions include patches for four and five laps, a premium OUTLAST medal for six laps, and a 1st Place OUTLAST award for the top male and female by combined 5K time at the event.
Finishers are ranked on a national leaderboard. The fastest overall across all OUTLAST six hour events earns a National Champion title and a $1,000 prize. The top city champions can qualify for the Outlast Championship in DFW on December 4, 2027, where cash prizes are awarded to the top three finishers.
