About the race
OUTLAST Austin is a trail endurance challenge held in Dripping Springs, Texas on 12/19/2026 at 1042 Event Center Dr. The format consists of repeated 5K laps run once each hour; each lap must be completed within the hour to remain in the event. Runners who complete a lap early rest until the next hour, and those who miss a lap are removed from the event. The event offers two time-based formats that result in different total distances.
- 6 Hour Challenge : 18 Miles
- Outlast ULTRA 12 Hour Challenge : 36 Miles
All courses are trail based, with dirt, rocks, roots, elevation, and occasionally pavement or gravel. Participants have time between rounds to recover, refuel, and refocus. Basic hydration and snacks are available at the basecamp or loop start, and the event is cupless, so runners are expected to carry their own bottle or hydration system. Participants may set up a personal tent or aid station at the site.
Recognition is given for partial and full completion: patches for four and five laps, a premium OUTLAST 6-inch medal for six laps, and a premium OUTLAST 12-inch medal for twelve laps. All participants receive a premium OUTLAST T-shirt. Finishers of the six hour event are ranked on a national leaderboard; the fastest across all OUTLAST six hour events earns a $1,000 National Champion prize. Top local finishers also gain qualification opportunities for an Outlast Championship event in DFW on December 4, 2027, with cash prizes for the top three finishers.
