Event Overview
The Towne Bank Outer Banks Marathon and Half Marathon takes place from November 6–8, 2026. It is the oldest continuously running road race in the Outer Banks.

Course and Event Details
The marathon course is described as fast and flat. It passes through the islands of the Outer Banks, with natural scenery along the route. A post-race celebration includes live music, entertainment, and free southern barbecue for runners. There is also a beer garden for participants aged 21 and over.
A two-day sports and fitness expo is held before the race, where participants can pick up their race packets. Runners receive a race t-shirt and finisher items. Strollers and pets are not allowed on the course. A 10% discount is available for retired and active-duty military members. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
