Outer Banks Freedom 5k/1 Mile & Little Sparkler Fun Run
The event takes place on July 3, 2026, at Kill Devil Hills Town Hall, 102 Town Hall Drive, Kill Devil Hills, NC 27948. It benefits the Outer Banks Giving Tree and is presented by SUN Realty and The OBX Running Company.
The program includes the following distances:
- SUN Realty Freedom 5k
- SUN Realty Freedom 1 Mile
- Little Sparkler 1/4 Mile Fun Run for ages 10 and under
Standard entry for the Freedom 5k and 1 Mile is listed at $50 with a reduced entry of $45 for younger participants. The Little Sparkler entry is listed at $35 for children 10 and under. Early packet pickup is available the day before the event at The Gym, 3712 Croatan Highway, Kitty Hawk, NC. On site packet pickup is available on race day.
All participants receive an event t shirt and a unique finisher medal. The event uses chip timing and posts results; results are also emailed to participants. Awards are provided for top male and female finishers, overall first through third, masters first through third for runners over 40, and age group awards in 10 year increments starting at under 10. Light post race refreshments include watermelon, pastries, and other snacks. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
