Event Overview
The Outer Banks Freedom 5K is an annual running event held on July 4th weekend. It is presented by SUN Realty and The OBX Running Company. The event includes three race distances: the main 5k run, a 1 mile run, and a 1/4 mile fun run for children.
Event Details
The races start and finish in front of the Town War Memorial at Kill Devil Hills Town Hall (102 Town Hall Drive, Kill Devil Hills, NC). Packet pickup is available the day before the race at The Gym in Kitty Hawk, as well as on site on race morning. The event supports the Outer Banks Giving Tree charity.
Awards & Inclusions
Awards are given to the top overall male and female finishers (1st-3rd), top masters finishers (over 40, 1st-3rd), and the first finisher in 10-year age groups starting from under 10. All participants receive an event t-shirt and a unique finisher medal. The event is chip-timed, with results posted online. The registration fee covers these items, as well as professional event photography, and post-race refreshments including watermelon and pastries.
