Outer Banks Freedom 5K
The Outer Banks Freedom event on July 4, 2027 brings multiple running options to Kill Devil Hills with start and finish at the Kill Devil Hills Town Hall, 102 Town Hall Drive, in front of the Town War Memorial. The event supports the Outer Banks Giving Tree and is presented by SUN Realty and The OBX Running Company.

- 5K road race
- 1 mile run
- 1/4 mile Little Sparkler fun run for children
Packet pickup is available early on Saturday, July 3, 2027 from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at The Gym, 3712 Croatan Highway, Kitty Hawk, and on site the morning of the event. The race uses chip timing; results will be posted and distributed to participants. The race fee covers an event t-shirt, a finisher medal, chip timing, event photography, and light snacks and refreshments.
Entry fees are listed as $50 for the 5K and 1 mile, with a reduced rate of $45 for ages 17 and under. The 1/4 mile fun run fee is $35 for children 10 and under.
Awards include unique prizes for top male and female finishers, overall places 1st through 3rd, masters men and women 1st through 3rd for ages over 40, and age-group awards in ten-year increments beginning with under 10.
