Outer Banks Freedom 5K / 1 Mile & Little Sparkler Fun Run
This event takes place on July 3, 2026, with the start and finish located at Kill Devil Hills Town Hall, 102 Town Hall Drive, in front of the Town War Memorial. The event supports the charity Outer Banks Giving Tree and is presented by SUN Realty and The OBX Running Company.

Registration fees are listed by event: the Freedom 5K and 1 Mile are $50, with a reduced rate of $45 for those 17 and under. The 1/4 Mile Fun Run fee is $35 for ages 10 and under. Early packet pickup is offered on Thursday, July 2, 2026, at The Gym, 3712 Croatan Hwy, Kitty Hawk; on-site packet pickup is available on race day.
The event is chip timed. Awards are given to top male and female finishers, including 1st through 3rd overall, 1st through 3rd masters (over 40), and age-group awards in ten-year increments starting at under 10. All participants receive an event t-shirt and a finisher medal. Post-race provisions include watermelon, pastries, and light refreshments, and event photography and professional timing services are included with the race fee.
