About the race
The Otway Trail Run takes place on the Old Beechy Rail Trail between Barongarook and Gellibrand in the Otways. The event offers trail running and a community walk on a course that passes through cool bush and pastoral landscape, with undulating terrain, several descents and one steep ascent on the chosen 16 km route. Both distances finish at Rex Norman Park in Gellibrand.
Distances:
- 16 km trail run from Barongarook through Birnam Station to Kawarren and on to Gellibrand.
- 6 km run or community walk starting at Kawarren (actual distance 6.3 km).
Facilities and logistics include parking at Barongarook, Kawarren and Gellibrand, and a shuttle bus service to the start locations. Personal-belongings bags are available at the start lines and will be transported to the finish; participants are asked not to leave valuables. Race bibs are posted to those registered before 20 February; others can collect bibs from each starting line before the runs. The event is timed by Tomato Timing and results are published online. Drink stations are provided at the start lines and at approximately 5 km and 10 km on the course; additional drinks are available at the finish. Entry fees contribute to Colac Area Health Foundation maternity ward equipment and to Rotary youth, local and international programs.
