Courses and logistics
- 21 km
- 10 km
- 6 km
- Kids 6 km
The 21 km course is a circuit that starts and finishes at the race village on the Barwon River and follows the Barwon River along the Red Carpet to Lake Elizabeth. The Red Carpet contains technical sections, fern-covered single track and fast downhill corners. The course includes tight, off-camber turns, fast downhills and undulating terrain. The 10 km course is a circuit from the village with a turnaround at the top of the Red Carpet. The 6 km and kids courses use the first half of the 10 km route, running via the Barwon River, Fernery Trail and across the top of the West Barwon Dam before returning to the village.
There are three water stations on the longer route at approximately 5.5 km, 8 km (Lake Elizabeth carpark) and 16 km; water stations are not available for the 6 km or kids course, so those runners must carry their own water. The 21 km course has three road crossings that are manned during the event; when crossings are unmanned, runners must stop and give way to traffic. Race bibs are issued at the registration tent on race day and are not posted in advance. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
