Oriflamme 50k

Oriflamme 50k is a 50K out and back trail race that begins at Sunrise Trailhead and follows the Pacific Crest Trail north before descending into the desert via Mason Valley Truck Trail and Oriflamme Canyon. The course includes single track, soft desert track, and sections of the California Riding & Hiking Trail through Box Canyon to the Blair Valley turnaround, with an approximately 2,000 foot drop into the desert and a roughly 5 mile climb on the return.

Aid stations are described as fully stocked with water, electrolyte drink, gels, fruit, salty snacks, sweets and other assorted foods. The turnaround is near mile 15.7; other course points named include Mason Valley Aid Station (about mile 5.4 outbound and mile 26.0 return), an S2 road crossing aid station (about mile 13.2), and the finish at Sunrise Trailhead (about mile 31.4). There is a 9 hour overall time limit and the event enforces cutoffs at key mile points.

Field size is limited to 150 runners. All entrants receive a technical t-shirt and finishers receive medals. Post race food has been provided by various vendors in recent years. The race is a qualifying event in the SoCal Ultra Series. Volunteer roles are offered with entry benefits for helpers. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
