Event Overview
The Orcas Island Triathlon is a multi-sport event scheduled for late spring on Orcas Island in Washington. This USAT sanctioned competition takes place at Cascade Lake and offers participants views of Mount Constitution and the surrounding landscape. The event includes individual and relay options, with accommodations such as bed and breakfasts and campsites located near the starting area in Olga.
Participants can choose from different race distances and combinations:
- Super Sprint FULL Triathlon: 1/4 mile swim, 13 mile bike, and 5k trail run.
- Alternative Distances: 1/2 mile swim, 12 or 24.8 mile bike, and 2.6 or 5.2 mile run.
- 2 Person Relay: Shared segments of the 1/4 mile swim, 13 mile bike, or 5k trail run.
- 3 Person Relay: Team participation across the swim, bike, and run segments.
Course Details
The event layout features a swim in Cascade Lake followed by a cycling portion on hilly roads. The final leg consists of a trail run. Individual entrants and relay members receive a long sleeve mesh or custom design event T-shirt and a classic molded finisher medallion. The registration fee also provides participants with entrance to a post-race pasta feed. All relay participants are required to hold USAT membership, which is available as a one-day option.
