Last Chance Marathon and Half Marathon

Distances and Course
The event offers two distances: Half Marathon and Marathon. Both courses use the same out-and-back route on the Interurban Trail. The full marathon is two laps of this route. They start at the Fairhaven Park Pavilion and run to Clayton Beach.
Course Details and Terrain
The course follows an old railroad bed with a gravel surface, described as very easy to run on. The majority of the trail has a canopy of trees. The route includes Arroyos Park, which is a double-track trail with a few bridges and some hills. The organizers note the trail has spectacular views.
Weather and Conditions
The race takes place on December 31st, when snow is possible. The tree canopy can deflect some rain or snow but also means the course may not heat up quickly, so it can get cold. Participants should plan for winter weather conditions.
Aid Stations and Facilities
Runners are advised to plan on being self-sufficient and carrying their own water. There are multiple aid stations on the course. The first station is approximately 3.5 miles from the start. Half marathon runners will pass aid stations three times (about every 3 to 3.5 miles), and marathon runners will have seven chances to refill. Aid stations provide water, an electrolyte drink, and snacks like candy, bananas, and pretzels.
The bathrooms and a warm, heated pavilion at Fairhaven Park will be available. Post-race food is provided for finishers, who also receive a commemorative coin/medal. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
