Orcas Island 50K & 25K - Olga, WA
The event comprises trail races held on Orcas Island with distances run on single track that passes through old-growth forest and coastal terrain at Doe Bay Resort. Trails range from smooth sections to rocky, rooty, and sometimes muddy stretches. There is about a half mile of pavement near the start area and another at the finish. Average June temperatures are about 65°F high and 50°F low.
Distances offered:
- 50K: ~7,200 ft elevation gain, 4 aid stations, 12 hour cutoff
- 25K: ~4,300 ft elevation gain, 2 aid stations, 8 hour cutoff
- Double 75K: two-day total ~11,500 ft elevation gain, 6 aid stations, 20 hour cutoff
Courses are marked with yellow and black arrow signs and pink and black checkered ribbons approximately every half mile. Aid stations supply water, electrolyte drink, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, fruit, chips, pickles, cookies or candy, selective gels, basic first aid and feminine hygiene products. Drop bags are allowed at aid stations and at the finish area.
Logistics note: Orcas is an island and ferry reservations are required. Doe Bay Resort is the race base and offers a range of onsite lodging and camping options including resort camping and field camping with shuttle parking for field campers. Access to some park trails via private property is restricted outside race weekend. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
