Run One Tough Mile

One Tough Mile is a elimination-style running event held at Ojibway Park in Woodbury, Minnesota. The course consists of a one-mile loop on a predominantly paved trail. The route is situated under the shade of mature trees and passes the Ojibway Park Lacrosse Fields. Because the course is a loop that returns to the same location, spectators are able to see participants at several points along the trail including the start, the quarter-mile mark, the three-quarter mark, and the finish line.

The event follows a specific format where participants must complete each one-mile lap within a decreasing time limit. The sequence begins with a 14-minute cutoff for the first mile. Subsequent laps require a faster pace, with cutoffs decreasing to 13, 12, 11, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, and 4 minutes. Between each mile, runners receive a one-minute break. If a participant fails to complete the loop before the clock reaches zero, they are removed from the competition. The race concludes when only one runner successfully meets the final cutoff time.

The event features:

  • One-mile looped course
  • Electronic chip timing attached to bibs
  • Aid station with water refill options
  • Bag drop area for personal items
  • Overall awards for the top three male and female finishers

Participants utilize a predominantly shaded, paved path that remains open to the public during the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
