Event overview

OMM Lite Trail Quest is a navigation-based trail event at the Lake District Running Festival in Grasmere on 30th-31st May 2026. Competitors search for checkpoints placed around the valley; 30 checkpoints are available. Each checkpoint carries a point value and is marked on the supplied map by a two-letter code and a circle symbol. Checkpoints on the ground have an orange and white orienteering sign with a control box that records visits.

Format and practical information

Entries can be for one day or two days and for individuals or teams of two or three. Teams must remain within talking distance of each other at all times. The event uses Harveys 1:25000 maps. Timing uses SPORTident chips and live tracking is provided. Included with entry are timing chips, live tracking, free event photographs, bespoke OMM Lite maps and a hot meal after the event.

What to expect on the day:

  • Long Course - Saturday 7 hours, Sunday 5 hours
  • Short Course - Saturday 5 hours, Sunday 4 hours

Mandatory minimum kit includes waterproof jacket and trousers, warm layer, hat and gloves, trail footwear, whistle, compass, pen, first aid, emergency food, water carrying, map and a fully charged mobile phone.
