OMM Lite Trail Quest
OMM Lite is a map based navigation event held in Grasmere on 30th and 31st May 2026. Competitors receive a map showing the locations of checkpoints and then plan a route to visit as many checkpoints as possible and return to the event HQ within a set time. Organisers have placed 30 checkpoints around the valley; each checkpoint carries a score and is marked with a two letter code and an orienteering orange and white sign with a control box.
The event offers several options:
- One or two day event returning to Grasmere on day two.
- Long Course time limits Saturday 7 hours and Sunday 5 hours.
- Short Course time limits Saturday 5 hours and Sunday 4 hours.
- Compete solo or in teams of two or three; teams must stay within talking distance.
Harveys 1:25000 maps are used and a new map is issued each day. Timing is recorded with SPORTident timing chips and competitors use a timing tag at each control box. One backpack per team is used so a tracker can be attached; random kit checks may be carried out during the event.
A minimum kit list is required and includes waterproof jacket and trousers, warm layer, hat and gloves, suitable footwear, pen, whistle, compass, supplied map, first aid, emergency food, water carrying capability and a fully charged mobile phone. Entry includes timing chips, live tracking, event photographs, bespoke maps and a hot meal after the event. The team that collects the most points wins.
