OMM Lite
OMM Lite is a map based, score event held in Grasmere as part of the Lake District Running Festival on 5 and 6 June 2027. Competitors receive a map showing the locations and point values of 30 checkpoints spread around the valley and must visit as many as they can within a set time and return to the event HQ.
The event runs as either a one day or a two day format. Each day uses a fresh Harveys 1:25000 map. Course options are: Long Course - Saturday 7 hours, Sunday 5 hours. Short Course - Saturday 5 hours, Sunday 4 hours. Entrants can compete solo or in teams of two or three; teams must stay within talking distance at all times.
Each checkpoint has an orienteering orange and white flag and a control box. Competitors register visits by placing their timing tag into the control box; if a control fails the three letter code should be recorded or photographed for later download. Backpacks are used to attach trackers and random kit checks may be carried out during the event.
Mandatory minimum kit is listed by the organisers and includes waterproof jacket and trousers, warm layer, hat and gloves, suitable footwear, pen or pencil, whistle, compass, map, first aid, emergency food, water carrying capability and a fully charged mobile phone.
