OMKC Non-Runners Run
Operation Military Kids Club hosts a community run in Surf City with two course options. The shorter course is a half mile with a donut and water stop at the halfway mark. Participants choosing the longer option continue on to complete the 1.5 mile distance.
Distances:
- 0.5 miles half mile walk or run
- 1.5 miles one and a half mile option
The course begins at Faith Harbor United Methodist Church and finishes at The Salty Turtle. Registered participants aged 21 and over receive a ticket for a free beer at The Salty Turtle; root beer is provided for participants 20 and under. All participants receive a t-shirt if registered by October 1.
Entry fees are tiered: adults 18 and older pay $25 for the half mile and $35 for the 1.5 mile; ages 5 to 17 pay $15; children under 5 may attend free. The event is stroller and wheelchair friendly. No dogs are allowed on the course except service dogs. Awards are given for the most patriotic attire or costumes.
Parking is available at Faith Harbor and The Salty Turtle and carpooling is encouraged. All proceeds benefit Operation Military Kids Club, a nonprofit 501c3 that supports events connecting military children in the community. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
