Old King Coal 5K
The Old King Coal 5K is a community sports event held in West Frankfort, Illinois. The event features several options for participants, including competitive and non-competitive categories. All races start and end at Frankfort Community Park, located at 1100 E. Cleveland.

The course is professionally monitored using chip timing provided by To The Finish Line, LLC. Participants who register by the early deadline of April 15 are guaranteed a commemorative event T-shirt. For those registering after this date, shirts are subject to availability and specific sizes cannot be guaranteed.
Awards are presented to the overall top male and female finishers in the 5K events. Additionally, the event recognizes the top two male and female finishers in various 5K age divisions, ranging from those aged 13 and under to participants aged 70 and over.
The proceeds from the event support local heritage through the Coal Miners Room and the Frankfort Area Historical Museum. Packet pick-up and late registration take place on the morning of the event at the shelter located south of the Aquatic Center within the park.
