Event overview
The Old College Tri & 5K takes place on Sunday, August 23, 2026, in Denton, Texas (2400 Long Rd, 76208). The event includes a sprint triathlon and a separate 5K run. The triathlon disciplines and distances are:
- 245 yards swim in the Lazy River
- 12.5 miles bike
- 5K (3.1 miles) run
The 5K finishes inside the stadium. All finishers receive a finisher's medal. Registered participants receive a custom Old College Tri race shirt.
Logistics and rules
The event is sanctioned by USA Triathlon. Competitors must present photo ID and must be current USAT members or purchase a one-day USAT permit. Adult competitors must pick up their own packet; with proper identification an adult may pick up for a minor. The organizer has a no refund and no transfer policy.
Team competition is for three-person teams in male, female, and coed divisions. Team results are the combined times of the three team members; this is not a relay. Team members remain eligible for individual overall and age group awards. Awards are three deep by age group and include Athena and Clydesdale divisions, masters and grand masters categories. Race timing for running events uses gun time; triathlon events use chip time. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
